Fish and chips

So today was another buy your lunch day, and I opted for my second favourite provider today. Lyndsays fish bar in the grainger market. Opposite the fishmonger of the same name they do a variety of noodle and fish dishes all prepared to order with fresh ingredients

I opted for the plaice goujons in tempura batter with chips. With a rather strong garlic mayonnaise on the side. I was offered chilli marinated goujons but sensibly turned it down.

At £3.95 it is at the pricier end of the lunch spectrum so really is a once a month type dish. But very tasty nice French fry style chips, deliciously light tempura batter and very fresh tasting fish.

Yum yum. You get four goujons for £3.95 on a bed of chips I ate 2 an a bit before taking these photos :)

Pizza pizza

My favourite lunch.

I usually rely on my good wife to prepare a luncheon for me. This is a luxury that I am afforded by a very generous wife. Very rarely I buy my lunch from town.

This can be a real treat (my homemade lunches are always awesome but freshly made hot food over a counter will always be a bit of a treat), as a result of many years of buying the odd lunch in town I now can crown the winner.

My favourite lunch (sorry Lyndsey’s fish bar you’re too damn expensive!)

I present to you the pizza slice. An authentic Italian pizza served by the slice, at prices ranging from £1.70 to £1.90. Which considering the size of the slice is an absolute bargain.

That and the taste… I am not exaggerating when I say this is the best pizza you can buy in Newcastle. Yes you can make your own, but for a takeaway this place beats every Italian restaurant I have been to by a mile. And I’m the type of guy who always buys pizza in italian restaurants.

Pictures below. The pizza place can be found in grainger market down the aisle near the pet place. If you can’t find it ask someone ;)

This is the Italian sausage, they also do a spicy salame, ham and mushroom and margarita

I highly recommend it

Isaac and a robot

Now I don’t expect anyone to watch all of this but i wanted to capture my sons excitement about robots. He has been obsessed with them for about 2 weeks now, I think it might be because his daddy plays with them too…

Anyway here for posterity is Isaac playing with a robot

I used to like blogging

I’ve tried to blog about my family and it always gets left or put off. I used to have 2 blogs on the go and I ended up just posting to Facebook. But I kinda hate Facebook. I don’t like using it, I don’t like that some of the people I’m friends with aren’t ‘friends’… a lot of them I haven’t seen since first school. Don’t get me wrong I’m sure they are nice people but I don’t understand why a lot of them want to be my friend. I mean I wasn’t even friends with some of them to begin with. Not that I’m saying they should de-friend me, I’m as nosey as the next guy but I do wonder if it is just curiosity that drives facebook or some kind of compulsion to have loads of people in your network.

I’m not sure if it is the term ‘friends’ that really annoys me or not… If it was called ‘people you may or may not remember going to the same institution with,.. Or ‘casual acquaintances who you might smile at in the street’. Or ‘people you used to know but you grew apart from through no fault of either party (….but if you were in trouble you would gladly turn up on their doorstep for shelter – unless you were wanted for murder)’. Not quite as catchy as friends though I guess.

Whereas a blog is more along the lines of ‘fuck it’. If I’m going to share what I’m doing with people who I may/may not recognize in a bar, then I may as well share it with the world and his dog. It seems more honest. And a little less in your face, although I will undoubtedly still integrate this with facebook :P

So as an introduction, congratulations on stumbling on to a site that has nothing to do with smoking or cowboys. I thought they were cool when I was a kid. Hell anyone smoking on tv was cool as fuck. And cowboys, damn they were cool.

I used to smoke, more as a hobby than a habit. I’m never quite sure why it takes smokers so long to quit. I smoked on and off for a while, and never found it addictive. It was habit forming I guess, and like a good cup of coffee can cure constipation on a morning. But did I ever crave a cigarette so much it brought me out in a sweat ? Nope. But then I could never really afford a full on habit. So maybe you have to go over a certain number a day before the nicotine rots your free will and ties you to the tar machine.

I digress but the point remains the same when I was a kid cowboys who smoked were cool. This was further underlined by the anime series Cowboy Bebop. Something about jazz music, space ships, martial arts…anyway also pretty cool.

My writing style is a little unfiltered, but hopefully readable. I have no idea how it actually reads as I seldom read it through before hitting post..

speaking of which.
